To finish 2014, I thought I’d do a round up of the year and what I’ve got up to. Looking back, I can’t believe all the fun stuff I was able to do this year! Here’s some highlights/reflections from May-August:
We had not one but two great holidays in spring/summer of 2014. At the beginning of May we walked most of the Great Glen Way (53 miles from Fort William to Drumnadroichidt in 5 days) which we really enjoyed. It was our first walking holiday and was brilliant. It was something I wouldn’t have had as a first choice holiday activity, but we relished the fresh open air, the stunning scenery, the sense of achievement at the end of each day, and of course the welcome shower and evening meal at the end of each day! Here’s the link to Day 3 (but you can find all of the Great Glen Way posts by using the search bar underneath the blog header).
We also enjoyed a trip out west for Mr B’s birthday – with a night away and then a lovely drive around Wester Ross to Applecross. Stunning views and somewhere we returned later on in the year.
At the end of June I went to my second North Hop Event – tasting lots of Windswept Beer and Dutch Cheese!
In July and August, I obviously got up to lots of fun stuff, as a third of my posts for the year were written in these two months! We had a lovely trip to Lisbon (which included the best ever custard tarts) and Germany where we sampled the traditional Kaffee und Kuchen.
In August Mr B and I were treated by RBS to a hospitality package at Edinburgh Castle before the Royal Military Tattoo. It was the first time I could try out my new DSLR and I was really pleased with the photos I took there. The whole event had a brilliant atmosphere and it was one of the unexpected highlights of my year.
Come back tomorrow for my final post of 2014, rounding up the last few months of the year!
