It’s now just one month until Christmas and one of the things I try and make time for in between buying and wrapping presents, making and writing cards, and enjoying festive celebrations with my work colleagues, is of course making and crafting.
I find it a good idea to plan ahead in making both festive decorations and goodies that can be enjoyed throughout the holiday season for us at home, as well as by family and friends. We have a monthly craft night at our house so Novembers night was spent starting to make my Christmas cards, and now I’m onto planning what I can pickle and preserve in the coming weeks! It’s all about hibernating for me, and having the time to be cosy and warm indoors and escaping the cold nights while preparing gifts. I enjoy making things that might not necessarily cost a lot, but can be personalised and that have that special homemade touch.
Efforts from the past couple of years have included…
Chocolate Bark -incredibly simple but effective and easily customisable according to the recipients favourite sweeties!
A festive wreath made with holly from the garden and glittery bits and pieces from Hobbycraft…
…and some foraged cones from the forest which backs onto our garden made some very effective glittercones which festiv-ified our fireplace!
This year, I’m dreaming of making some infused oils, and flavoursome chutneys and pickles. I might even share some of my favourite recipes in the coming weeks.
