As well as exploring the Bloomsbury area last weekend during my trip to London, there was also an opportunity to enjoy lots of cafes and foodie experiences! Aside from friends (obviously) one of the biggest things I loved about living in London was finding new exciting foodie experiences. So going to some fun foodie places was high on my agenda!
First up: Hummus Bros! I stumbled on this place when I used to work in Holborn circa 2008, and I think it’s fair to say it revolutionized my lunchtimes! Donna is also a big fan (actually this is an understatement as she couldn’t wait and had been dreaming of this lunch for weeks previous to our visit!). After finishing the Books about Town Trail we headed on down to Wardour Street in Soho.
The concept of Hummus Bros is simple but genius. A regular or large bowl of hummus filled with your choice of hot/cold fillings (I chose chicken stew and guacamole, while Donna went for falafel salad and guac too – us girls just love our avocados!) and served with light hot wholemeal pitta. We hoovered up all the chickpea goodness.
Being too full for dessert (we’ve never managed it) we got the bill. Our lovely waitress must have heard us waxing lyrical over the hummus as with the bill she she brought a complimentary chocolate brownie for us to share! We were both glad we got one to share as it was very rich and fudgey, delicious!
Following the epic lunch, we rolled back to our hotel where we had left our bags and this is where I left Donna as we had other plans with respective friends. Come back tomorrow to see where I spent my Saturday night!
