Yes, twice in a week! We had friends who came up from London to St Andrews for a week, which also coincided with me being able to take a long weekend to use up a remnant of annual leave allowance. We spent the first bit of yesterday afternoon starting the process of buying a new car after our beloved Ford Escort Antonio failed his MOT but to be honest I was more taken by Oscar, the nice chocolate brown labrador that was also in the car showroom, than talking about APR rates and the details about cars (Thankfully Mr B is completely car literate!). As a result we have named our new car Oscar, in honour of the dog (Yes we are sad, and no, we don’t care :-))
Then we were off to St Andrews. After meeting Team Clark in a nice warm cafe for coffee and cake, we checked into our B&B and then went into St Andrews for drinks and then to Ziggy’s for dinner – a cool American/Mexican restaurant, and really good value – can definitely recommend a meal there!
This morning we headed into St Andrews for a relaxed wander around the shops, including scouring the many charity bookshops for the next BlookClub read which is the Sherlock Holmes Stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. I didn’t achieve in getting the complete set, but got a book that includes 12 short stories and Hound of the Baskervilles, so I’m going to enjoy reading those on my commute from next week!
We also visited Fisher and Donaldson which is a ‘must-do’ if you are ever visiting St Andrews. The only thing that you need to buy from this bakers is a £1.06 Fudge Doughnut – a perfect Saturday afternoon treat!
Finally before we came home we visited the beach as it was really windy, the loose sand was being swept along the beach. Probably my favourite beach ever because it is huge!
