I appreciate that this post will have no relevance for most people who read this but if you ever visit Edinburgh we can recommend this restaurant that we were taken to by a friend on Wednesday night: Cafe Marlayne.
Inside the restuarant area was really roomy and airy – hopefully this link to the gallery will work! I really liked the patterned feature wall coupled with the art on the walls and the massive lampshades.
I wish I had taken a photo of the menu at the time, not because it was a fancy print or for the design, but just because the menu changes daily and so does the handwriting of the menu.
We all had a hard time choosing our starters and main courses, but I eventually went for the vodka cured salmon to start and then grouse with bacon, cabbage and apple sauce, which flavours worked together SO well!
The boys went for lemon sole and monkfish main dishes which also looked amazing. Fortunately we all made room for dessert: sticky toffee pudding, lemon and honey cheesecake, and lemon posset were the sweets of choice (from a massive list!).
The waitress service was attentive but not pushy, and friendly too. This was somewhere where we would definitely go back to in the future, the food, atmosphere and quality of service were top notch!
