It’s been a bit of a successful month over here in the Barrie household, as I have been selected as both the winner and a runner up in two different photography competitions! These things always seem to come in stages – last autumn I won a competition too!
The first competition I entered way back in August, run by Great Glen Ways. We walked the Great Glen Way (see here for the start of our trip and then the next few posts for more photos) and the competition was to enter a photo taken on a journey down the Great Glen. The chosen photo would be printed on the 2015 Great Glen Services and Accommodation Guide! I entered two photos, the top one is the winning one!
As well as being on the front of the guide, I was also told that I win a £50 Tiso voucher, so I will be able to top up my walking clothes for spring!
The second competition I saw advertised on Twitter by Sykes Cottages, who asked for photos showing the ‘Best Bit’ of Autumn. I entered this photo, fresh from our USA trip!
I was selected as a runner up and received a cool lens kit for my phone – which included a wide lens and a fish eye lens! It’s something that I wouldn’t have considered buying, so this is a great little bit of kit to keep when I’m out and don’t want to take my DSLR out with me!
In other life news, I go down to part time working next week – over December i’ll be front-loading my hours so I get a clear two week break (one of the perks of working for a University!) and then from January I’ll be working 3 days a week. I’m hoping to do the new online course from A Beautiful Mess in DSLR Basics which will improve my photography knowledge and skills!
