This year, I will be endeavouring to try more new recipes. All too often I revert to my usual safe, tried and tested recipes bookmarked on the web, before thinking to look at my growing collection of recipe books (growing so much that I bought a smaller bookcase to house our fiction so that I could use the bigger one for the foodie books!). In the latter half of the year I went on a bit of a spree and pretty much upped my stash by a third. So one of my resolutions for 2015 was not to buy any more recipe books until I had tried out at least one new recipe from each recipe book. Then I quickly broke the resolution on the 2nd January, so it starts again from now!
We have a large collection of recipe books written by Jamie Oliver. Mr B owned quite a few before we got married, but I’ve been able to add to it since. His newest, Comfort Food is still on my wishlist, so unless anyone else fancies buying it for me, that will be on the top of my list to buy once I’ve achieved my goal!
I saw this recipe for Sweet Potato & Chorizo soup in Jamie’s Ministry of Food book, so it seemed a good choice for the first in my “Cooking the Books” series. Chorizo is one of my favourite flavours, it’s so delicious and distinctive.
I served with a drizzle of double cream and a mini chilli for decoration.
