Today has been a nice relaxed Sunday. I was woken by Mr B bringing me a bacon roll after he went to an early Easter morning service on the beach, then went to the morning service at church. It was here that we were called upon to judge the annual Children’s Easter decorated egg competition – the standard was high and we had to choose one winner per age group. I should have taken photos, our winning egg included a lamb, a panda and the Queen (celebrating her jubilee)! Check out here for some awesome decorated eggs!
I was a bit reluctant to judge the easter egg competition as I feel like its a bit of a ministers wife job. I feel a bit weird being ‘the ministers wife’ here and it’s probably a concept that I’ll probably be in tension with for a while yet. I think that the general image of a ministers wife that people think of includes someone who is a housewife (I work full time), helps with absolutely everything within the church (I’m not really, but I do help out with the Youth group), bakes furiously (well maybe I’m guilty of that one)- what do you think? I think maybe also because I prefer being behind the scenes and not ‘up the front’ is another reason why.
As well as being judges of the egg competition, we also received a awesome and freshly baked loaf of bread which we had successfully bidder for at a recent fundraising auction. It was amazing, particularly with the soup I had made yesterday.
This afternoon I have mostly been napping, while Mr B watches cricket. It does seem that there is a ridiculous amount of sport on this weekend. I’m hoping that tomorrow we’ll be able to get out and do something exciting-there’s only a certain amount of sport a girl can take!
