Lochcarron and Plockton

September 16, 2015 by Susan 2 Comments

Last week’s day off for Mr B and I involved a drive out west, as the weather forecast was for sun all day (and let’s face it, summer this year has been deficient of vitamin D!)  so we headed out for an all day road trip.

We arrived in time for lunch at the Waterfront Café in Lochcarron (involving big and tasty local prawns) and of course some homemade cake, before walking along the village shore.

Lochcarron, as is the case with many other villages on the west coast, is so picturesque with its view of the loch from colourful cottages.

There’s also some defensive locals on the lookout for intruders (but as you can see, Bartie really wasn’t put off!)

Then we drove (via a viewpoint at South Strome) along to Plockton, which may just be my new favourite place ever, with palm trees lining a bay which has sailing boats, castles and hills all in view!

We ended our day over in Broadford, Isle of Skye with a fish supper (though our romantic idea of enjoying a blue skied view was thwarted by the midges, and we ate it in the car!)

I’ve never been to Plockton but it looks so pretty! From some of those photos you’d think you were somewhere exotic!

The weather really helped Kirsty, it was a stunning day but I think the views would be dramatic even on a dreich day (which let’s face it, is more likely!)
