Bank Holiday Weekend Travels

April 3, 2013 by Susan Leave a Comment

I don’t know where you were this weekend, but the weather here in Inverness was glorious (if a wee bit nippy!). On Monday a group of us ventured to Loch Farr (which incidently, was not far out of Inverness – about a 15 minute drive, but felt as if we were in the middle of nowhere). We even had a lovely picnic on the jetty. Then in the evening we took some visiting friends and their dog Bracken up to Craig Phadrig (bottom photo).

On Friday we also visited Reelig Glen (which has apparently some of the tallest trees in the UK), and below that picture is one of the Beauly Firth on our way back into Inverness. After which we had an awesome 3 course lunch at The Kitchen by the River Ness and a lazy wander around the shops.

Saturday afternoon we weren’t planning to go out, but after Mr B finished work we headed over to Ardesier Beach as he hadn’t been there before – again the cloudless sky meant that we could see over to snow-capped Ben Wyvis. We also visited Connage Highland Dairy, where of course it would have been rude not to buy any cheese. We snaffled a nice wedge of Brie and some cheddar over 2 nights to undo our good work of walking over the bank holiday weekend!
