Love London – Part 2

February 15, 2012 by Susan Leave a Comment

Drink Shop Do is one of my favourite places to go in London – it’s cute, serves great cocktails and cakes, and has some really cool ‘makes’ and ‘do’s’ on. Unfortunately I haven’t found anything like it in Edinburgh yet (sad face). However, closer to home in Burntisland (said, Burnt-island, not Bunt-is-land as I originally thought when I moved here – rookie mistake!) there is a cool pottery cafe called Potter About which does very good cake.

I’ve been enjoying Little London Observationist again this week and read a post this morning on Billboard Art here. I used to love seeing all of these random things around the city. Earlier on in the week there was also a post about chewing gum art (No, I am not joking!) which I am also intrigued about!

As this post goes live, I will already be down on my way to London but I have already got my eye on fun things to do when I am next down in March. Here’s one – a massive  Egg hunt -the Big Egg Hunt in fact! It reminds me of Summer 2010 when elephants took over the city. I remember a fun lunchtime with my friend Donna looking at a load of different decorated elephants in Green Park (I think that might have been the same day we saw the Queen drive out of Buckingham Palace – we were so close to her and very excited!)

What are your favourite things to see and do in London?

Aw, thanks for the links 🙂

The Elephants have been auctioned off, but just read a press release today that there will be a similar public art show around London in June – July, with artist-decorated telephone boxes instead!

  • YOU ARE INVITED 🎭 💃 🎞 // My preview of the March-June programme of theatre, dance, film and family events at @lythartscentre is now up on the blog. We love our local arts centre (the most northerly on the UK mainland) and if you’re in Caithness, you should have a copy of the programme winging its way through your letterbox this week! Thanks to Co-directors @tom_2mt and @cjmmountford12 for giving me a sneak peek at what’s coming up in the next few months! #lythartscentre #performingarts #caithness #nc500

  • I think I’ve found the best kept secret in Inverness - authentic, fresh Chinese food at the Scottish Highlands & Islands and Moray Chinese Association! Soups, rice dishes, dim sum and cloud like char Sui buns - served at lunchtimes only. Had to trawl through @msthain grid to remind myself of it’s existence a while back after talking about with @northhopmichelle . Blog post link in profile now! #inverness #highland #chopsticks #chinesefood #shimca #noodles #dimsum 🇨🇳
  • I used to run a baking club in Inverness until we moved up to Caithness in 2017. Now I’m going to give it a go up here - bakers of Caithness, join me for some home-baked goods and baking chat - give @caithnessbakingclub a follow on here and on Facebook, and share away! 🍰
  • Found my new favourite dish - spiced lamb with dates and red lentils from @georgiepuddingnpie ‘Stirring Slowly’ - With only 25 mins of easy prep and 2 hours in the oven, you have a stew with delicous Moroccan flavours. Already looking forward to having the leftovers with some harissa roasted veg later in the week! #slowsunday #slowcooked
  • Caithness is awful. Just shockingly bad. Don’t bother visiting.
