Highland Foodie Find: Wester Hardmuir Farm Shop & PYO

August 16, 2016 by Susan Leave a Comment

There are few things better than getting outdoors and picking your own berries (as evidenced by the PYO weather vane below!). A local place for us to do this is at Wester Hardmuir Farm Shop!

As well as picking our own raspberries and gooseberries, we bought an assortment of squat pan squashes, courgettes and mini cucumbers. If you don’t have time to pick your own, there’s a good supply of freshly picked berries and other goodies that have been locally grown/sourced along with lots of treats (think cheeses, pates, condiments, cakes), and Wester Hardmuir’s own icecream made with their own berries.

the cucumbers were used in salads, and when it was warmed to have a BBQ, the courgettes were thickly sliced into rounds, coated in garlic and extra virgin olive oil. The pan squashes were roasted in the oven accompanying some fresh fish.

The raspberries were eaten within a day or so, and the gooseberries were frozen, after being topped and tailed, ready to be added to a bake!
