A key part of an festive Christmas celebration is a cheeseboard as it’s such a great way of feeding those unannounced guests.
As a member of the Tesco Orchard community, I was invited to review some of their cheeses which are available. I could have opted for their ready made cheeseboard or platters, but we prefer to create our own and chose our own cheeses based on our personal tastes.
We chose an Oak smoked Wensleydale, and a Wensleydale studded with Mango and Ginger. These came from the Wensleydale Creamery which we visited way back in February this year during a holiday near the Yorkshire Dales, so it was a lovely memory to recall our visit there.
Both were delicious but my absolute favourite was topping a digestive biscuit with a generous slice of the sweeter Wensleydale – which was in effect a mini cheesecake without any of the preparation!
We also chose a classic French Brie, and a Double Gloucester with onion and chives. Paired with some of my new favourite red onion chutney from Westray, the brie was very tasty, and the Double Gloucester was great on a poppy seed cracker, as well as Mr B’s favourite – Stockan oatcakes.
We always enjoy visiting the cheese counter at Tesco at any time of year as there are such a wide range of cheeses and cheeseboard options to choose from. Apart from the brie, all of our cheeses were made in the UK and I think it’s good to buy home-grown as much as possible.
Thanks to Tesco Orchard who provided me with a voucher to purchase cheese of our choice in exchange for a review.
