Mr B spent last week in Edinburgh, so I went down to join him for a night before we both travelled back to Inverness.
We managed to grab some tasty Greek food at Ola Kala near to Haymarket (no website-but take a look at the reviews). We shared dips and pitta to start, followed by pork souvlaki/gyros dishes, with soft drinks for £20! The tzatziki was some of the best we’ve had, and the aubergine-garlic dip (I’ve forgotten the traditional name!) was so moreish. Freshly cooked, pillowly pittas drizzled with extra virgin olive oil mopped these up quite adequately!
Our main courses consisted of a pitta wrap containing tender pork, freshly cut and cooked fries, salad and pickles. So good!
Heading back towards our accommodation, we stumbled upon a new (to us) Whisky bar – Usquabae (meaning, “the water of life” in gaelic). Mr B enjoyed an ale (Long White Cloud) and a dram of Scapa from Orkney – which is now pronounced his favourite Scottish whisky. We holed ourselves in one of the booths and enjoyed our drinks.
A walk along Princes Street while the sun was setting finished off our evening in perfect style.
