This week I’m going to fill you in on some trips that we are planning (22) – some we know more about than others!
With Mr/Rev B getting 6 weeks holiday a year, we plan our holidays in advance. Over Christmas we sat down and worked out when the best time to take them. We find that it’s much more refreshing to take blocks of 2 weeks, so this year we are taking them in late April/early May, July and then some time in the autumn.
The autumn trip will hopefully run over my birthday (30th – wooo!) and I’ve wanted to go back to America for ages, so we are looking at going to Boston, Chicago and possibly Washington over 2.5 weeks. We haven’t really started planning in earnest yet though!
Our Summer holiday is going to be a combination of Germany for a big family party for Mr B’s uncle, hopefully a few days by a beach somewhere in Europe, Essex to see my family and maybe even Crieff Hydro for a few relaxing days not doing very much at all!
One trip we have literally booked today is a walking holiday! Inverness is at one end of the Great Glen Way, a 79 mile walk right down to Fort William on the west coast of Scotland. We are going to do part of the walk – from Fort William to Drumnadrochit which is about 55 miles. We’ll then do the last leg (Drum-Inverness) possibly over a weekend when the summer nights are long again. We haven’t done any walking holidays before, so we will need to do a lot of weekend walking to get us used to walking between 9 and 13 miles a day, for 5 days in May! The Great Glen Way is one of the easier long-distance trails in Scotland, with not so many large hills but still very picturesque landscapes and views. The challenge for me will be not stopping to take lots of pictures in order to get to our B&Bs on the itinerary!
So that’s me, 2014 is hopefully going to have some very good trips! What trips do you have planned this year?
