This week we had a cheeky Monday off work together (we normally take a Friday off but due to busy workloads last week, our day off didn’t happen). We met Mr B’s parents down in Blair Atholl for lunch at a local mill. Before that though, we had a quick hike up to the Falls of Bruar (behind the House of Bruar… which can be most likened to a Scottish version of Harrods plonked right in the middle of the A9 route between Perth and Inverness)! We got a brilliant day weather-wise as you can see from the photos below:
Then we headed to the Blair Atholl WaterMill for lunch. Simple sandwiches, bagels, and home bakes are the order of the day here, using the flour made on the premises. We were able to sit in the garden with the dog and enjoy the pretty surroundings before we took a quick trip inside to buy a stock of flour to take home! Usually you can see the mill ‘in action’ during your visit, but unfortunately it wasn’t this week.
We then had a wander around the village of Blair Atholl. It really is a pretty village. There’s even a castle and gardens that you can look round – as we had to make tracks back to Inverness, we bookmarked this for another trip, and headed back to the House of Bruar to enjoy an icecream in the sunshine!
