North Hop x NTS| Summer Events in Aberdeenshire & Angus (GIVEAWAY)

July 5, 2019 by Susan Barrie Leave a Comment

You may remember that in recent years I have been an ambassador for North Hop – which celebrates the best of Scottish food, drink and creativity across the north of Scotland. The last festival was held in Dundee last year, but following the recent popularity of the first North Hop x National Trust for Scotland collaboration event at Haddo House back in May, a full North Hop Summer Events programme with NTS has been announced!

North Hop x NTS Summer Events

Each of the four summer events, hosted at a different National Trust for Scotland property in Aberdeenshire & Angus, will have a different theme to suit the surroundings. Each event will showcase awesome street food, market traders and makers from across Scotland, along with some themed entertainment/activities! You can see the bottom of this post for the full listing of events including ticket booking links. For today’s post, we’re heading to the House of Dun, which overlooks acres of Montrose woodland!

North Hop x NTS Summer Events

The only NH x NTS summer event to be held in Angus, the House of Dun is a spectacular Georgian house. During the 27th and 28th July, you can take a discounted tour of the house which will give you an insight into the history of the property, or treat yourself to a a VIP ticket (which includes entry to the event, a house tour followed by canapes and a glass of fizz/beer)!

North Hop x NTS Summer Events

Not being too familiar with the area of Angus, I’m looking forward to meeting the market traders as well as sampling some Scottish street food and drink from this awesome line up!

FOOD & BARS

All foodie tastes are catered for by local Scottish producers – whether you are a meat-eater, vegan or veggie. And with beer, cider, fizz and spirits available, there’ll be a tipple you can enjoy!

  • Screaming Peacock
  • Wild & Smoky
  • El Tajin
  • Wild Thyme
  • Muckle Backit Oven
  • Papamacs Gourmet Kitchen
  • 71 Brewing
  • Tipple in a Tuk Tuk
  • Arbikie

CRAFT MARKET TRADERS

I’m excited to meet some local makers and crafters, and with jewellery to coffee, brownies to stationery and much more, i’m expecting to go home with some goodies!

  • Smithies Gin
  • Sacred Grounds Coffee Co
  • Artisana
  • Good Life Farming
  • Knitty Kitty Bang Bang
  • Fudge & Fancies
  • Uan Wool
  • Highland Boundary
  • Louise Forbes Design & Islay Spalding
  • VIctoria Wylie
  • The Hideout Arbroath
  • Hometown Cheesecakes
  • Paper & Jam
  • Mrs Erskine’s (NTS)
  • Deliciously Dates

There will also be some family friendly activities (courtesy of the House of Dun, Under the Teepee Parties, The Hideout Arbroath), some classic garden games and some musical acts providing a summer soundtrack, so make sure you explore every inch of the grounds!

As this is a collaboration event 50% of all ticket sales go to National Trust for Scotland to support the amazing work they do in running and taking care of these fantastic venues.

Angus Food, Drink, Craft Market
Angus is home to so many amazing food/drink businesses, makers and activity providers and that’s exactly what this summer event is all about! We’ll be making the most of all the great wee nooks and crannies and tucked away spaces of House of Dun to host street food vendors, bars, market traders, music buskers and more. And with an epic view out to the Montrose Basin you’ll most definitely enjoy lunch with a view!

North Hop x Castle Fraser : USA Roots | Tickets

As big fans of everything USA the minute we set sights on the fairytale-esque Castle Fraser and its impressive Events Field we knew this theme would fit! This summer event will combine American elements with our Scottish Roots, marrying both cultures/traditions. Think down & dirty cooking, epic burgers, full-on themed bars, live music, beer pong, cheerleaders, mini Highland games, touches of tartan and maybe even a watchtower piper!

North Hop x Haddo House : Doggy Day Out | Tickets
Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 September 2019
Dog Festival
Our first event at Haddo House back in May was jam packed with lots of lovely dogs so we’re taking this summer event to the next level and making it all about the dogs! Expect a doggy bar (there will be bars for the humans too!), snack stations (and food trucks), market traders to suit both four legged and two legged peeps, and lots of activities for dogs, and all the family to enjoy. This super dog friendly and family friendly event is definitely one for the diary!
