After our walk-a-thon on day one in NYC, our second day in New York was intense in a different way, as we spent a large proportion of it around the World Trade Centre Memorial and Museum,to commemorate the terrorist attack on 11/09/2001 which I’ve scheduled a separate post to cover tomorrow. However our day started with a trip over to Staten Island. I’m sure that Staten Island is an interesting place, however like many other people, the free ferry trip is used to get a good view of the Statue of Liberty, so we hopped on the next ferry back to Manhattan!
We then hopped it over the west side of Manhattan to walk the Highline – an urban park built on an old freight railway line. There was so much to look at here, it was a real unexpected highlight for Mr B.
After all that walking, it was definitely time to stop for cheesecake – New York style (Pumpkin for him, Caramel Pecan for me) !
