Last week I started a short weekend blogging series – see this post for what #JanuaryJoy is all about and how I’m getting involved!
I could really mention something for all of this week’s prompts (6-10), but I’m going to concentrate on just a couple.
PLAN SOME CLEAN EATS (7)
Mr B and I try and plan our evening meals in advance. Generally we try and do a food shop every 10 days, so it means that we have to try not to think of the same old things to eat after work, and it means that we try and get some healthy balanced meals in there. There are favourites that we will tend to eat pretty much every week or so, one being this spicy root vegetable and lentil casserole and also this sweet potato, lentil and spinach dahl. Basically recipes with lots and lots of vegetables in.
However this week Mr B was away at a conference so I was home alone. One of the nights after my dinner I was really fancying something sweet to eat. I remembered that last week I had frozen some fresh mango. So I got out my copy of “Save with Jamie” to look up the recipe (if you can call it that!) and whizzed up some sorbet in less than 5 minutes!
MANAGE YOUR TIME (8)
I’ve just started a new job, so i’m having to remember what it’s like to manage time at work, as well as out of it! Mr B and I rely on an app called Calengoo which is basically one google calendar which is installed on each of our phones, the ipad and our laptop (there is a cost per device, I think about £5 but we’ve found that it has more than paid its worth). We’ve found it invaluable to us – as long as it’s synced for updates it means one of us can see what’s going on/coming up and we only need to look at one calendar. With Mr B often busy with work some weekday evenings it means if we get a dinner invite I can simply check what appointments are in the calendar. It’s been a lifesaver for us. That said, I still can’t part with the idea of not having a diary with me, and there is a calendar in the kitchen too – more for brightening up a kitchen wall than to help our logistics!
