Since my last update in June, my camera has been out and about with me. My year of doing homework from the weekly AYWMC email prompts however have taken a bit of a almighty dip – I’ve been filing them away for when I have some time in the winter when things are a bit less busy! Today’s post recounts my favourite ten photos I’ve taken in the last few months (all on my Nikon D3200 DSLR).

I have my favourite haunts in Inverness (many of them noted on my guide to the Highland capital) but one of them is the Inverness Botanic Gardens. Small but wonderfully formed, the gardens are great to visit particularly in the spring and summer months. My favourite flowers are alliums and I was pleased with the depth of perspective I got from this shot above.
Also in Inverness I was pleased to have more opportunities to improve my foot photography, when I was gifted a meal at Rocpool Reserve. I think my photos did justice to the amazing food we ate.

My travels continued at the end of June when I got a short flight to Aberdeen. The granite city looked absolutely fantastic in the sunshine!

It was also my first time seeing ‘Poised’ – this leopard sculpture created by Andy Scott, who also designed the famous Kelpies near Falkirk.

The year plodded on with more trips – this time our summer holiday took us both west and east, with trips via the The Rest and Be Thankful road (A82), and a few days in the east neuk of Fife.

The end of August saw a trip to Orkney, which I have posted about here. We basically had about 30 hours for my brother to get a taste of the island, which was easier to do in Stromness where we had an afternoon of glorious sunshine!

Finally, venturing closer to home, I was able to do some local touristing at some of the spots that we pass regularly when heading down the road to Inverness.

It was just by the door of the museum that I spotted this furry caterpillar, it took ages to get a photo I was happy with, to capture what looked like a mini-bungee jump!

One of my all time favourite things to photograph are waves, and this was taken at one of our local harbours. As we head into the final months of the year, my goal is to try and get some great action shots of the waters and cliffs – the only downside is that this means I have to venture out into the cold! And of course, as we approach darker nights and longer days, there is always the challenge of the Northern Lights to capture!
