Catching Up/Secret Santa Happenings

December 11, 2013 by Susan Leave a Comment

Whoops! It’s been over a month since I last blogged. We had a 2 week holiday in November, which saw us visit (deep breath) Crieff, Glasgow, Bute, Barnsley, Peebles and Edinburgh! It might sound quite hectic but it really was quite relaxed and we were able to visit lots of friends and family, which was good seeing as we (Me and Mr B) are having Christmas on our own again this year, our first in Inverness! As soon as we came back from our holibobs, then it was time for me to start my new job at UHI (University of Highlands and Islands) last week and we also had a friend to stay last weekend so life has been fairly hectic and the holiday feels an age away already! Thankfully I get two full weeks off at Christmas so a holiday isn’t too far away again 🙂

However, while I was on holiday I learnt the identities of two recipients I needed to buy Secret Santa gifts for. I joined two Secret Santa schemes; one organised by A Scottish Lass and Makeup-Pixi3 and, the other one Olive Dragonfly – in an attempt to try and be a bit more social on the ol’ blogosphere. I’m a prolific blogreader (especially since I’ve joined Bloglovin’ – to follow me just tap the button on the right hand bar of this post) but am so TERRIBLE at commenting and actually being part of the blogging community, so I thought this would be a good thing to try and get myself “out there” a bit more, and it’s definitely an aim to continue in 2014!

I have sent off my gift to the recipient of the  #ODSS13 Secret Santa organised by Olive Dragonfly (and am awaiting my own to arrive, so I’ll be able to update you on that soon) but I’ve already received my gift from the  #bbloggers Secret Santa organised by A Scottish Lass and Makeup-Pixi3, and sent my gift to the recipient (Allie). We were actually paired up so the “Secret” part of the Secret Santa was a bit redundant, but it was really useful to chat to her, and find her blog for inspiration!

A Scottish Lass and Makeup-Pixi3 both feature a lot of make up and beauty posts as well as lifestyle stuff. My blog doesn’t fall quite neatly into that spectrum of interests but I do enjoy the odd pamper session, so I was really intrigued to see what I received. Allie’s blog was very similar and gave me lots of ideas (you’ll have to look at her blog when she posts about what she received when she posts about it soon).

Today my parcel arrived and I’m sorry to say that I ripped off the packaging within about 2 minutes (I’m always gunning to open presents before they’re supposed to be!) and opened up all the little parcels inside. You can see all that I received below – I was really chuffed with what I received – Allie had obviously done well in working out what I might like!

Hopefully in the next week or so I will be able to show you what I received in the #ODSS13 Secret Santa!

Perfectly wrapped!
All the goodies – just waiting to be opened!
Still perfectly wrapped!

I love vanilla and this will help me to take care of my hands over the cold winter!
I have already used this about 5 times in the afternoon I’ve had it – it’s a lovely raspberry flavour and keeps my lips well moisturised – great for winter!
I really like the shades and this blusher.

Allie included some samples – I’m particularly keen to use the Benefit face wash and the Rimmel liquid foundation!
A cute mirror – I love the butterflies and this will be going straight into my bag for work!
