Upcycled Tea-tray

September 23, 2014 by Susan Leave a Comment

With Mr B also being a Rev, we have lots of evening meetings and opportunities to show hospitality. A tea tray is invaluable as it saves lots of trips to the kitchen. We got this one from IKEA but I always thought it was a little boring, and after a few uses it was easy for tea and milk spillages to stain the tray.

So my idea was to cover it with a PVC tablecloth material so it could be both pretty and practical! My first thought was to cover the whole base of the tea-tray but in the end I went with two rounded rectangular pieces to make it look a bit different (so there was no need for the tape measure!)

It was uber-easy, draw round our dinner mats twice and cut them out.

and stick them on with some strong glue!

Then it’s just a case of drying out and later, spray varnishing.

Of course Tunnocks cups and cow milk jugs are optional!
